Tried and Tasted: Mirchi Salan

So, its been a long time since we posted. Things have been moving, and we've been low for sometime now. But no longer, I promise! :) We decided to kick it off by participating in Zlamushka's Tried and Tasted event. This month, Jugalbandi is the blog in the spotlight. Are we glad or what? :) I decided to try out Mirchi Ka Salan - another Hyderabadi favourite. I haven't yet gotten over my stint of 2 years in Hyderabad and this dish is an ode to all those Biryani nights filled with conversations, secrets shared, gossip, girl talk, experiments with hair and make up, foto sessions, food and more food :) and more!

I bought Jalapenos long long back from the Farmer's Market. We never made Mirchi Ka Salan. Something or the other came up. Anyway, Biryani plans did not work out and I made it to eat it with Roti. So, here is the recipe, untweaked. A has a rule not to tweak any recipes the first time we try it. So, I tried it the way it was here. Boy, did we love it or what! I could certainly do with more spice. So the next time I make Mirchi Ka Salan, it is with the seeds!

glad you liked it. this is from tarla dalal's book. we are wimps when it comes to chillies. so i'm sure the seeds won't hurt.
